1. The short version
adbinge.io is deliberately cookie-light. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, social media pixels or third-party analytics. We keep a few small items in your browser so that shared links, invite credits and the web player work, and so that views are counted fairly. This policy covers cookies and similar technologies, such as local and session storage, under the EU ePrivacy Directive, the UK PECR and similar laws.
2. What we store
| Name | Type | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ab_ref | Local storage | Strictly necessary | Keeps the invite code from the shared link you opened, so the person who shared it is credited if you join, as they asked. | Until you clear it |
| ab_vid | Local storage | Strictly necessary (anti-abuse) [legal review: confirm classification] | A random first-party browser ID. Combined with a salted, one-way hash of your IP address, it lets us count each viewer of a shared ad only once, so points for sharing cannot be inflated. It is not used for advertising, profiling or tracking across sites. | Until you clear it |
| ab_seen | Local storage | Functional | Remembers which ads you opened on the web (up to 200), so the "get the app" prompt appears only after a few ads. | Until you clear it |
| ab_sheet | Session storage | Functional | Remembers that you already dismissed the app prompt during this visit. | Until you close the tab |
None of these items is shared with brands or any other third party.
3. Why there is no consent banner
Consent laws in the EU and UK allow storage that is strictly necessary for a service you request without asking first. Storage that only stores your own interface choices, or that prevents fraud on a service you use, is treated similarly. Everything above falls into those categories, and the site works without any of it. That is why we do not show a cookie banner. Our approach is under legal review [confirm before launch in the EEA/UK]. If the review finds that any item needs consent, we will either stop using it or ask for your consent first.
4. Third parties
Cloudflare, our hosting and security provider, may set strictly necessary security cookies (for example to detect bots). Videos are streamed from Cloudflare Stream without advertising cookies. When you tap through to a brand's website, that site is run by the brand, and its own cookie policy applies.
5. If we ever add non-essential cookies
If we add analytics, advertising or other non-essential cookies, then before using them we will:
- update this policy and list each cookie, its provider, purpose and duration;
- show a consent banner to visitors in the EEA, UK and other places that require one, with Accept and Reject options that are equally easy to use, and not set those cookies until you agree;
- let you change your choice at any time through a "Cookie settings" link in the site footer, and keep a record of your consent;
- respect browser privacy signals such as Global Privacy Control where the law requires it.
6. Your choices
You can clear or block site storage in your browser settings at any time. The site will still work, but invite credits and the "seen" memory will not.
7. In the app
The AdBinge apps do not use cookies for advertising and do not use the device advertising ID (IDFA or AAID). The apps keep your login session and settings on your device so you stay signed in. See our Privacy Policy for what we collect.
